Was down visiting a friend and we decided to go here one night. Very nice place and really enjoyed the outdoor patio. I didn't eat, but the drinks were really good.
Our party of six decided to try this place for dinner while attending the Christmas on Las Olas event. Due to the event the restaurant was absolutely packed. Even with so many people wanting attention the service was good. Our range of dinners covered just about all the types of food offered on the menu and everyone loved the food.... More
On a busy holiday weekend our party of 6 ate at Big City tavern for a pre-show dinner. Nice menu choices. Lighter meals and full dinners. Great choices at the bar too. We always have a delicious meal there. Atmosphere is fun. Outside seating under canopy is great people watching especially when the weather is nice.
Tonight was our last visit to Big City though we live in walking distance. They were not busy but once again the kitchen could not deliver in a timely manor. Too may other good choices on Las Olas, especially since the food is only mediocre.
Went with a group on a Sunday, and the restaurant was empty when we got there, and it still took forever (2 hours total) to order, get food, eat, and then pay the bill. The food was fine, but not amazing, and overpriced. The waitress missed many things that we ordered, and the food came out in dribs and drabs... More
I had been past this place a few times and never went in. We had been to one of their other restaurants in Delray Beach. I won a gift certificate so we decided to use it for brunch. MAKE RESERVATIONS!!! We had a reservation but the place was packed sp for those who did not have one there was a... More
Big city tavern has an upscale bar atmosphere and upscale prices to boot. Their main entrees looked good but were in the $20-$30 range which was more than I wanted to spend. With family in tow, I was kinda surprised they didn't have a kids menu because there were several families around us that Saturday night and looks like we... More
Had dinner with a friend on Holloween night. Sat outside by the sidewalk and watched everyone walk and drive by in costume. What a show! We had the scallop appetizer which was great and my friend had the beef short rib, which he said was good not great, and I had house made tubitini with shrimp, tomato and spinach in... More
Big City Tavern has a nice variety of dishes, serves substantial portions and has reasonable prices. Not the most upscale room on Las Olas, but has a pleasant, upbeat vibe. Loud when crowded (weekend evenings - make a reservation). Everyone in your party will find something they like. Even the hamburger is great. Efficient, professional service.
We stopped in here for lunch prior to returning to the Fort Lauderdale airport. We had orrechiette (sea shell) pasta with homemade sausage in a white wine and tomato sauce with broccoli rabe. We don't like broccoli rabe in general but in this dish it was very well balanced. The pasta was done perfectly, the sausage was terrific and the... More
