I go to this restaurant frequently. Every family member that comes into town gets to enjoy a relaxed atmosphere eating on the courtyard or a cozy atmosphere in the dining room. Don't let the quaintness of this restaurant deceive you. They run a top-notch dining experience. Their potato salad is delicious - everyone that tries it finishes their first bite... more
What I liked - scrambled eggs done right, fried potatoes done perfectly and in signature fashion (they season them with coriander seeds - very nice), sausage done well enough, French Toast pretty good (not quite there, yet), very pleasant outdoor patio (although close to road) with plantings achieving an enclave feel, and very good service. What I didn't like -... more
My family & I just returned from a lovely vacation on Fort Myers Beach. After leaving the Edison/Ford Estates we stopped by the McGregor Cafe for lunch. It was by far the BEST food we ate while in Fort Myers.... absolutely delicious & wonderful! It was so good in fact that we tried to have dinner the next evening, (our... more
I admit to only having eaten lunch here and found it to be very good. My wife did eat breakfast on the same day and says it was good. Pretty hard to screw up an omelet but it has been done in the past. I had a burger and it was pretty good cooked to perfection with a great big... more
bad, inexperienced service - stale, vinegar tasting - wine that was "on special" - soggy brushcetta - too salty marinera - key lime pie with NO lime. This was our first and LAST time there. oh, and it was totally empty with only one other table at 8pm on a Friday night. more
I recently moved to Fort Myers from New Jersey where we are fortunate to be close to some fantastic restaraunts. What can I say about McGregor Cafe? I think they put MSG in their food...because I am ADDICTED! My favorite is their simple homemade ceasar salad with a filet of salmon grilled and seasoned to heavenly perfection! Their wine selection... more
The catch of the day was grouper fish. It was beautifully cooked. The waitress was quite concerned that it may be undercooked. It was perfect. The service was good. A lovely little patio atmosphere although it had some street noise. It felt almost European. I will be back for the food. more
The previous review covers this restaurant beautifully. The food was reasonably priced, artfully presented and an entree was more than enough for two. Our waitress was very accommodating when we five gals requested separate checks and although the restaurant was full they night we were there, everything was handled efficiently. We were even given a glass of port at the... more
This terrific little neighborhood restaurant serves up delicious food in a casual and friendly atmosphere at excellent prices. It is located along McGregor Boulevard about three miles southwest of downtown Ft. Myers. We were directed there by our landlord at The Hibiscus House B&B, also on McGregor Blvd, and she did not steer us wrong. Dining choices include a tiled... more
