For our last three trips, my wife has been on a quest for her idea of a perfect Cuban Mix sandwich. She tried the Killer Mix at DamnGoodFoodToGo and said no. She tried El Siboney's and said no. She gave a thumbs up to Sandy's Cafe. But it was at Five Brothers this trip that she said, "Two thumbs way... more

This is a place you "must" try. The Cuban Mix sandwich is great. While in Key West, I ride my bike there everyday to pick up lunch. Me and a lot of others. I don't know about the other sandwiches because I get the Cuban Mix everyday and never tire of it. Best bargain on the island. more

This place is known for their cuban coffee. But, I was in there for Lunch yesterday and ordered their Fish Sandwich. They said the fish was fried grouper and it was pretty darn good. (and real grouper) It needed a little tarter sauce though, so next time I'll remember to ask for it. I think it was about $8.50 and... more

This was our first stop on island, we happened upon it walking to our guesthouse so we braked for a cuban grill. Great bread, thin meat and cheese, I shared it with my husband for a great snack. FYI, this is a little store with no seating inside, we did sit on a bench outside to enjoy our cubans! more

I was stationed in Key West in the mid sixties, while there I was introduced to a Cuban snack called " Bollos". They are made from Blackeyed peas. Everytime I visit I have to have 2-3 orders. I have been looking for the recipe with no success. if anyone knows the real Cuban recipe pls post to this site and... more

Best takeout Cuban on the island. You can tell by the line of locals waiting for food. Wish I could have stayed longer to eat their food more often more

Been a proud patron since the early 1990's. It don't look like much cause there isn't much to it, appearance that is... the food will knock your block off though. Go for a morning cafe con leche and pan cubano con mantequilla. Follow it up with a lunch special and sit outside on the bus bench. You will not be... more

The cafe' leche is wonderful. But this is a neighborhood grocery, not a restaraunt and so if you walk 1/2 a mile and expect a place to sit, sorry, not here. We just went for breakfast and I had a coffee and breakfast sandwich. Coffee was wonderful, sandwich was plain. Since it was a little ways out and our first... more
