My husband and I spend every winter in Islamorada and are thrilled to have Chanticleer South at our doorstep. The food is unfailingly fresh and is individually and beautifully prepared by Chef Jean-Charles. There is always fresh local seafood on the menu as well as more traditional French entrees. We had dinner there in Feb 2007. It was the best dinner we had on our Keys trip. The food was excellent with great sauces. The atmosphere was casual as you would want in the keys. The chef after dinner gave us a tour of the kitchen. the whole experience was excellent. more

If you are looking to spend your money on an upscale, gourmet restaurant, avoid Chanticleer South. We had dinner their twice, thinking perhaps the first time was just a fluke. The second time was just as bad. Spend your money at Pierre's. The prices are about the same, but your will get exceptional food, service and ambience at Pierres. more
