We love this local "dive" - which has recently been named one of the top 10 seafood dives in Coastal Living. Great "keysy" atmosphere - live music, on the water, outside or inside dining, even some dining on their "beach". Love the Ahi Tuna Nachos - ahi tuna, seaweed salad on a crisp wonton with spicy kimchee sauce and wasabi... more
This was our first meal upon arriving for 10 days in the keys and was one of the most memorable!! The food was excellent, ahi tuna to die for!!! We sat right down on beach, unbeleivable view! Felt more carribean like than florida! Waiter was awesome, even reported that to management! Live music! Would have returned had we had enough... more
We went on a Monday night. Not crowded. I had the crab cakes, (good), and the Japanese green beans (Yum) The outside dining atmosphere in the tent was nice as it was a warm Keys night at sunset. It is very casual with port a potties for restrooms. (albeit, clean ones) Other entrees at our table were Catch of the... more
We stopped in the Island Grill for a few drinks and appetizers late one afternoon. The food was fantastic. The drinks were decent....nothing extremely special but not bad. The view was great. We received wonderful service seated in the bar...at first. We ordered a round of 8 or 9 dollar frou-frou drinks. However, once we received our food and one... more
The Island Grill was our third dinner out after arriving in Florida, and it was definitely the best we've had so far. I ordered the Aha Tuna Salad, which came as grilled tuna on on a bed of seaweed with wasabi. It was absolutely outstanding. The server was friendly and offered plenty of recommendations. He forgot our conch soup order,... more
We decided to go to the island grill since it appears to be crowded all the time. We sat down and ordered a bottle of wine and 2 beers for the 4 of us. We ordered a great appetizer and then when we decided what we wanted to order the waitress informed us that we each needed to order a... more
Went here based on recommendation from folks who own the cottages where we stayed. Looked good; great location, with a view. That was the end of the "good stuff". Please do note that they have a "singer" here who isn't good at all, and who likes to shout out stuff to various diners. I suppose that is ok for a... more
I find it upsetting that every facet of your experience with our establishment was disappointing. Including the food quality, service , entertainment, and price! Yet, you never requested to speak with a Manager to rectify the situation. When dining out, and I assume you do so very often, when service, or food quality or the volume of the entertainment is...
I went with 3 friends to the Island Grill on 1/23/08. Being a Wednesday, there was no line and plenty of tables when we arrived at 6 p.m., but by the time we left at 7:30 there was a short line. The food was excellent. Everyone had the conch chowder, which was perfect. Two of us ordered the fish tacos... more
It's funny the way the reviews here for Island Grill swing so wildly from horrible to fantastic! We did what you should never do in Islamorada, which is to turn up on spec without having reserved a table. There was a great big private party going on down in the "beach" section (which we never saw) and they placed us... more
