My husband and I just finished dinner at Big Sugar and were very disappointed. We love Caribbean food but didn't find this to taste even remotely "island" as promised. We started with the Spanish Flatbread, which was rather pedestrian, and the Braised Shortrib Spring Roll, which had good Asian flavors, but the last time I checked Asia was a continent... more

My husband and I were visiting Sarasota from Boston. We had a terrrific dinner here. The presentation was imaginative and the food was great. There were not many diners there on a Tuesday night in July, so our serve really gave us great service. This will definitely be on my list when we return. more

I have tried going there twice for appetizers and cocktails. The first time my fiance and I were completely ignored by the manager and the bartender. I even called the owner the next day just to let him know because I felt he had the right. Well, I went last night to try and grab some appetizers and cocktails again... more

Love the fresh food and the interior design. Fish is unusual types--not the common grouper. Burger was suprisingly flavorful. Great place for happy hour. more

My friends and I had a great dinner and stayed for the DJ later (who was pretty lame). The only major complaint was that after dinner it was hard to get a drink and they were either watered down by the time I received it or just tasted like mixer and no alcohol. more

I had dinner in the Big Sugar with my two sisters and brother in law on Friday night. Usually when I visit my sisters in Florida we try to go out to dinner one of the nights and this was on my sister's Must Do list!! This restaurant is only open four months, it is not even the season yet... more
