Please note: I submitted this same review to The Vines Restaurant - which is what this establishment is now called. After reading some of the favorable reviews below, it is possible that the chef had the night off and had prepared the German dishes ahead of time, which might explain our bad experience (it WAS the day after Thanksgiving afterall).... more

I gave this restaurant 5 stars across the board because it's so far above the rest of the restaurants we visited in Helen, GA during our one-week stay at the end of October. The atmosphere is comfortable and welcoming, a charming country inn restaurant. The food was very, very good. The service was excellent, and the chef made a couple... more

My husband and I both enjoyed our meals here. I was a bit disappointed in my potato pancakes. They tasted more like a potato omelette instead of pancake. Too much egg, not enough potato. Waitress was a delight. Beautiful mountain view out of the rear windows. Especially nice for a romantic dinner or special occasion. I know they serve breakfast... more

My husband and I came to Helen GA for the first time this in August. We had searched online for B&B's and had decided to stay in town instead (HUGE mistake and another review). We had remembered that the Edelweiss was also a restaurant so we decided to stop there for dinner. WOW! The food, service and atmosphere were all... more

Although it is not in the heart of Helen or other German fare of the area, this one is worth the drive. The service was superior and the atmosphere added to the enjoyment of the food. They have expanded the menu to include European cuisine such as Veal Picatta so if you are not a fan of German food there... more

We spent a weekend in Helen for our 33 anniversary and since the hotel (Best Western) was a bit of a dump, I had higher hopes for our dinner selection. I had emailed first because I was unsure when liquor sales would kick in. I brought a nice bottle of wine and found good food here to accompany it. We... more

I I found this place while searching on google and chose to go here because everyone had rated it highly. I couldn't agree more! This was exactly what I was hoping for when I searched for a quaint restaurant that would be perfect for a romantic evening. The menu serves a few key German dishes (we tried one and it... more

We visited Helen over the Christmas holidays with my in-laws and stopped here for a late lunch. The atmosphere is so quaint and beautiful. The server was lovely, friendly and attentive. And the food was wonderful! Definitely worth seeking out!! more

Food is great here, for a good many reasons: 1. The most expensive entree on the menu is $20. Compare that with Outback Steakhouse and other chains, and you'd be hard pressed to spend more than $70 in a dinner for two here since this is a dry county and you won't have a large "drinks" tab. (You can bring... more

Awesome awesome awesome..! Try the schnitzel with jager sauce and spaetzle and red cabbage! you won't be disappointed! Also, we love the fact that you can bring your own wine. ... they don't sell any so if you want some you'd better bring it! Good service and great food! more
