This place is *the place* for breakfast. You'll likely have to wait in line to get in, but it's worth it (not to mention you are served fresh donut holes while standing). We rode from California to Chicago just to ride west on Route 66. Lou Mitchell's was our starting point for the ride back and it did not disappoint. There was plenty of food (3 large bikers were full when we left) and it was very good. The service was friendly and prompt. This ride was in the Summer of 2003... more

Lou Mitchell's is an unassuming breakfast spot in the West Loop (about a block from Union Station). The free doughnut holes are great but the waffles are tremendous. They also have some of the best coffee in the city. If you are looking for a simple but great breakfast, Lou Mitchell's will not disappoint. more
