Went to Louie's last Saturday night before a John Prine concert at the Genesee Theater. Had a party of 10 and we were about 12-15 minutes late due to weather and traffic. Louie's is an institution in Waukegan -- and for good reason. It's a great bar with excellent comfort food at reasonable prices. And now that all restaurants are smoke-free, everyone can enjoy the ambience. They are known for their fried chicken and bread sticks, but we love their salads. A true original! more

Very dark inside, but who cares? The food is GOOD. I LOVED dipping the delicious bread in the raspberry dressing they have. oh goodness...I wish I was in Illinois so I could have it right now. more
