We shared several appetizers, sushi and vegetable udon and everything was very good. The udon was loaded with big juicy mushrooms and other veggies. It is just in a little stripe mall and the decore is nothing special but it was a very good find and I will be going back next time I am in Iowa city. more
The title sums it up. Sushi Popo has excellent sushi and Chinese food (which makes this a good restaurant to take a group with non-sushi eaters). The prices are good and the staff is friendly (although they can be a little slow). Overall my family's favorite sushi / Chinese restaurant in Iowa City. more
I took my family to Sushi Popo this weekend after Thanksgiving and had a great experience. The Sushi boat we ordered had the freshest salmon. Our entrees were fantastic (I suggest the Jam Bong or Sesame Crispy Shrimp) and the service was great. Our server even went out of his way to prepare my family an "orange boat" dessert on... more
Absolutely LOVE this place. Their chef special dishes- Burnt Nut Chicken, Korean Champong Soup, YenChing Beef are DELICIOUS. they cook wonderful korean and chinese food, and the sushi there is excellent. I always have a difficult time trying to decide what I want to eat because I enjoy so many dishes on the menu! more

The sushi is pretty good, so is the teriyaki - but there are other better restaurants, and the service is better elsewhere. more
I am an admitted Japanese/Korean food junkie. After trying each local venue extensively I can safely say that NO restaurant does it better than Popo. The one crowning glory is their brilliant Korean noodle soup, Jam Bong--absolutely glorious. Once only custom made for requests, it's now enjoying main menu status. Their sushi is unbeaten. Being from Iowa City, I must confess I haven't had a lot of sushi on the coasts to compare this to, but Sushi Popo certainly is wonderful on it's own. It is not only my favorite Asian restaurant, it is one of my favorite restaurants of any kind in town. more
