I live in Portsmouth and what I love about Cafe Mirabelle is its low profile, short on pretension character. The food is simple, elegant and flavorful. My personal favorite is the Chicken Francais. Portsmouth has great restaurants but by far my favorite is Cafe Mirabelle. The ambiance is great and the food is fantastic! Have loved Portsmouth for years, and though we live an hour away we make it a point to return over and over. Of all the restaurants we have tried in Portsmouth, Cafe Mirabelle is by far the best. I debated if I rate it as Excellent or Above average. And only because of its decor I gave this Above average rating. The food is great. Everything we had was above our expectation. Been there several times. Very well prepared French-style dishes. Decent portions. Cozy downstairs room with fireplace is nice in the winter. Across from a municipal parking lot. Bring quarters. House wine by the half carafe is less expensive and good. more
