....not necessarily the food that makes a trip to Chope's worth it. La Mesa is nothing special....a small post office, rundown houses, Chope's Bar and Chope's Dining Room.....what more do you need? Eat in the bar for an extra-special experience as your food is carried across the parking lot to your table....and don't forget to order yourself 40oz of your... more

Chope's came with a strong recommendation from RoadFood.com, so we stopped in there for lunch while driving from El Paso to Las Cruces. Unfortunately, we both felt that, compared to the New Mexican food we had had at several other places in southern New Mexico, the food at Chope's was rather bland.
