If you've ever eaten really good Southern cooking, you won't be impressed here. The "pot roast" is slow-cooked rump roast, in clear broth, with a few pieces of veggies. We had dinner there two weeks ago. The menu is limited--I think it was fried chicken, pot roast, ham, trout, and chicken and dumplings--but the food was absolutely wonderful! The Jarret House is a historic building and very charming. It is family run and the family is friendly and at ease with groups. They usually close the restaurant at 7:30 at night. Our bus was held up because of road construction so I called to alert them. They said come on - we'll be waiting for you. And they... more
