Came to this resturant over the summer for breakfast. The new breakfast bar is terrible, doesn't even have pancakes. Mcdonalds would have been better. Also the Management seemed like snobs. I will not go back. more

After many disappointing meals here in the Outer Banks this week, the Dunes was a breath of fresh air! We started with drinks & an appetizer... excellent martinis and mixed drinks, the fried green tomatoes were very tasty. Our dinner was the best...great crab cakes, and my boyfriend could not stop talking about his marinated flat iron steak. Cooked perfect... more

There were 3 adults in my group - none of us had eaten at the Dunes before, so we couldn't make any comparisons with the "old" Dunes. We decided to have breakfast there our first morning at Nags Head (Sept. 26, 2009) since it was within a block of our motel. We were so impressed with the food and service... more

This was the first time I've ever eaten at The Dunes so I cannot compare it to the restaurant and previous menu before it was remodeled. My husband and I decided to eat at the restaurant because of their AYCE Crablegs. It was my husbands birthday and he wanted something special. The price was $28-$29 and included potatoes, corn and... more

I was pleasantly suprised by the changes at The Dunes. I understand folks being upset about the changes. The old Dunes was a good value for the money but nothing special. The kind of place retirees love-not that there's anything wrong with that. We took my in-laws there for that reason. Thought we had the wrong place until they explained... more

Love the remodel. Wwe ate breakfast here on the way out of town, wish we had come sooner. The breakfast buffet was to die for. My favorite was the chipped beef. Greay variety and very fresh fruit. We will definately make the dunes a more than once a week stop. more

Overall the quality, service and food was great. I think there is too much food on the plate and we never finished an entire breakfast! Great value, they get you on the drinks. more

This was our first visit to the Dunes, and the 9 of us went for breakfast. Some ate from the buffet, some from the regular and kids menu. Everyone enjoyed their meals. Our server was very good, she kept the coffee cups full. Thank you for a great meal. more

The Dunes used to be known for fresh food, prepared home cooked style with a Southern twist. New owners have tried to make it North-East-Trendy and spoiled an outer banks tradition. There used to be an excellent fresh salad bar, good portions and good value but that's all gone now replaced with kitch and generic eat anywhere commercial prep dishes.... more

All the nik-naks are off the wall, the little gift shot is gone (for the most part), and the real family atmosphere is definitely gone. That's the bad news, and I won't make my review based on what it was, but on what it is. What it is is a middle to upper end class restaurant with real good food.... more
