The Pony Island Restaurant, located next to the Pony Island Motel, reminded me of the places we used to go to while on vacation in the 1970s. The Pony Island Restaurant has no affiliation with the motel. Good homecooked food and a nice owner and family. I go for the Pony Potatoes. Hash Browns with grated cheese, salsa and sour cream on the side. I like mine with a fried egg on top. more

I know the Pony Island is a popular breakfast place on Ocracoke, but I had a really disappointing experience last week (August 16, 2007). The fried eggs were OK, but the fruit was dried out and the strawberries were moldy. They were also out of English muffins. I totally agree with the reviews. I have been going to Ocracoke on a regular basis for about 4 years now. It isn't complete if I can't get breakfast at Pony Island Restaurant. I always have a western omelete. (and no, I can't spell!). My boyfriend, of late, has been getting their steak sandwich.... everytime we go! It's sad, but... more

Taste--great; value--great....It is refreshing to see natives of the island at this restaurant. We have been traveling to Ocracoke for many years and have tried many restaurants, but we always have had the best experience with this wonderful place! more
