Our waiter for the evening meal was very helpful and friendly. We ordered mostly seafood items from the menu. The atmosphere reminded me of a time long ago which is why we like to come to Ocracoke. We would eat there again. more

My son and I ate breakfast there and the food was very good. The place had emptied out and we were the only ones there but overall a very good experience. I had the crab and swiss cheese omelet and it was delicious! Very good quality food and great coffee! more

Not sure what some of the negative folks are talking about. I have been frequenting PIR since the 70"s. Great breakfast--the place is packed with fishermen in the fall and can't wait to go. Certain times of year it is open in the evening and be sure to let them fry your own fish. It doesn't pretend to be something... more

Every time we've been for breakfast has just been awesome! Unless something has changed in the last year or two since we've eaten there, I would very highly recommend it for breakfast! more

The Pony Island Restaurant, located next to the Pony Island Motel, reminded me of the places we used to go to while on vacation in the 1970s. Remember, when most motels/hotels had on-site restaurants? THAT's the kind of place I mean. Nothing fancy, just really good, simply-prepared American food, Southern in style and with am emphasis on FRESH local seafood.... more

I was there in June 2008. This is the worst food I have ever had. The eggs tasted like they were powered. The grits were bitter. I made the mistake of going there twice, only because it opens very early. The second time I tried the egg whites. They also tasted powered. The hash brown potatoes were definitely frozen and... more

One of the locals told us the food is good on the weekend; too bad we ate there on a Wednesday, The biscuits were so hard I thought I might break a tooth. The breakfast potatoes were right out of the freezer bag, They were dry and tasteless. After our food arrived we never saw the waiter again, except when... more

A great place to go for breakfast. Think hometown, homecooked, comfort food. A good place to linger over coffee. more
