Excellent really imaginative food, extremely tasty. Lovely service. Lovely place. The loo is too much like a public convenience and the flush didn't work. Otherwise Superb!

No wonder they have been awarded a place in The Good Food Guide as the food is superb. I had the salad plate which had every wonderful vegetable you can think of dressed with hummus, salsa verde and roast squash. The dhal is another favourite...along with Spanish tomatoes on sourdough. Cakes are different every time - plum crumble muffins and basque cheesecake to name a couple being my favourites. Good, friendly service and a stylish setting.More
Wow! Superb lunch in super, stylish surroundings made even better by the most charming waiter-thank you! Excellent shop onsite too.
Best salad I've ever eaten! The soup and Spanish toast were also excellent. Would love to go back for coffee and cakes which also looked delicious. Such a lovely, stylish place with friendly staff, and a gorgeous shop too.
This place served me the most incredible salad I have ever had. You would never have thought of putting these ingredients together and I don’t think I have ever had such a wonderful experience with quality produce, colour and taste, We learnt that every meal...is made from scratch with the most exciting ingredients and the puddings and little sides and additions they sell are a wonderful surprise. The tea was served loose leafed and in beautiful pots. The childrens hot chocolates were the perfect temperature for their little hands. We didn’t have any dietary needs but the staff were allergy conscious and I saw the head chef speak to someone about their complex needs which was reassuring if you have a worry. I also noted the environment is safe and accessible for more vulnerable visitors and the area is spacious with ground floor toilets for anyone with mobility needs. The customer service was perfect and attentive and I am not surprised that these guys have just been listed in the Good Food Guide. The museum across the path does a tour and the kids loved learning how to make the knives and forks as well as looking at all the other things on display. We will definitely be recommending and can’t wait to visit again to try the other dishes on the menu. Thankyou so much for a brilliant afternoon.More
An outstanding cafe in David Mellor’s remarkable shop and factory. The coffee is impeccable, specially roasted in nearby Buxton, and the pie and salad I had for lunch were a rival for any restaurant in the Peak District. Hugely recommended
After trying lots of cafes in Derbyshire and Sheffield, this one is our favourite as it never fails to deliver. The food is different and delicious and their coffee is the best. We've always been able to get a table and the staff are friendly...and efficient. Me and my husband have been here quite a few times and it's now our go to happy place. Love it!More
We came here for brunch and the food was exquisite! The pastries were fresh and very tasty. Highly recommend the Spanish Tomato Toast with poached eggs. Beautiful restaurant with very friendly staff. The scenery complements the food and is very relaxing to sit and watch...the birds in the trees.More
Top marks for cleanliness, friendliness and the superb quality of food. I highly recommend the smoked mackerel - delicious. This place trebles as a Michelin-type cafe, a museum and designer cutlery-ware. It’s definitely worth a visit.
The food is really good, so is the coffee and the soft drinks. Nice staff. I would go more if I lived closer.
The best Reuben I have ever tasted. Toasted Sourdough with tasty side salad, Derbyshire roast beef, mature cheddar, kimchi, russian sauce. It had everything a sandwich should have, sweet, sour, crunchy, soft, the sauce dripping down fingers that had to be licked clean time and...again, layer upon layer of flavour, each mouthful, a savouring of taste and texture and moments of time. A truly wonderful experience. For the best Reuben you have to make a visit. For desert cake, mango, lime, and coconut, with cream AND raspberry sorbet. Lovely staff, no delay with the food. As always we will be back.More
We’ve eaten here a handful of times before and live locally so know it well. The last visit was just for tea & cake late last year sometime. I brought my parents along this time, they were treating us to lunch (4 adults, one teen)....We ordered 5 sandwiches, 2 coffees, 2 teas and 1 OJ. The total … £75! Absolutely horrified at the price and so embarrassed that I had suggested the venue to my parents. I didn’t see the prices when we ordered as I had forgotten my glasses (so my husband read the menu to me!!). If I had I would have insisted we go elsewhere (plenty of other options nearby). The food was good but in no way justified the price, whatever the provenance of the food etc. We are lucky to be able to eat out a lot and have noticed increased prices everywhere but this was way above any rises we have seen elsewhere. We won’t be back. It feels like they are taking the mickey out of customers and I see from other reviews we are not alone in this.More
Service was excellent. Helpful and attentive. I had the Persian chicken which was utterly delicious. Delicate, well flavoured and staff happy to serve the picked chilli on the side ( fortunately- v hot) . Not the cheapest lunch but excellent value for money.
Amazing, attentively staff and insanely good food! We had the house salad which was hands down the best salad I’ve ever eaten, Latte was made to perfection too. Highly recommend 👌🏼
My sister and I stumbled on this place quote by chance , just went into the gift shop and found the café attached. We had an amazing brunch there . we enjoyed . The service was so amazing. It's family run by an amazing couple...Ralph and Lauren. We were served by a lovely lady called Jo. We ordered chai latte and a salad and humous plate. They has a really good selection of vegetarian options and the first place I'd found to have moist and delicious vegan cakes made by Lauren. We were so impressed we couldn't resist ordering dessert. There was an apple and walnut cake which we would have loved to try but we went for the plum and ginger vegan cake and a triple scoop of the most delicious ice cream raspberry ripple , mango sorbet and chocloate . There was an amazing selection of flavours. Thank you so much to all of you for creating such a wonderful atmosphere and vegan options for this oasis cafe in hathersage DEFINATELY not to be missed and a jewel in the peaks we will return to again and again.More
