My boyfriend took me to The Fish Plate to celebrate my birthday whilst on a mini holiday in Somerset and I can honestly say, all things included, it was one of the best meals I have ever had (far more enjoyable than Rick Stein's!). We received a lovely, friendly welcome from Carol who made us feel completely at home and... more

We stumbled on The Fish Plate late on a Friday night and were welcomed by the wonderful Carol. Her enthusiasm and knowledge really added something to the whole eating experience. The food was excellent, as was the choice of available fresh fish, service was great. We've eaten in some famous restaurants and in terms of overall dining experience this compared... more

Having been there before, my wife booked here, for my birthday tea, as a surprise and had pre-ordered a Singapore Chilli Crab dish as a special. We had to go early since they were fully booked for the Saturday night. The Scallop starter was deliciously tasty. We then had, for her, a Crab Salad and then me...... Carol, our host... more

The food was very expensive (£19 each for a shared crab) and the desserts were fairly stodgy and unimaginative. I chose a lemon polenta tart which did not remotely taste of lemon. The waitress, very helpful and pleasant lady, changed this for 2 scoops of homemade ice cream at £6, which was nice, but the chef came out and seemed... more

We went to this lovely place with some friend a couple of months ago and loved it so much that we took some other friends there too. The atmosphere is lovely and welcoming and if you don't know what the fish on the specials board looks like, just ask the host as she will come over with a book and... more

We ate on a Friday evening. The service and atmosphere were friendly, welcoming and relaxed and the food superb with a fine selection of wines. For the quality, the value is remarkable and I cannot recommend a visit to this restaurant too highly. Go while you may still be able to get a table! more

Found this place during a visit to Watchet. (I hadn't been there in 38 years and it was lovely.) The Fish Plate is still a young restaurant but it is doing everything right. Great local fish, cooked by an expert and server by lovely people. more

Some Friends, my husband and I went to Watchet in Somerset for a wedding Fri 08/08/08. (Congratulations Cath and Gaz) On the Sunday evening we had booked into a recently opened fish restaurant aptly named Fish Plate. We only stumbled on it by chance and how lucky we where. The establishment itself has a homely and airey feel where we... more
