Oakhursts has a great Sunday brunch that is well worth it. Great food, good and friendly service. Nice place to eat but on the little higher price side.
If you happened across a Smorgasbord restaurant along a highway in rural southwestern Pennsylvania, your expectations for an above average experience probably wouldn't be very high. You would be wrong. The Oakhurst Tearoom is a surprise, ONLY to those who are visiting for the first time. In business since 1933, and with a seating capacity of 550, no one would... More
Meh. Decided to try the Oakhurst Tearoom after not having been there for probably 20 years. It looks the same, for whatever that's worth. (And yes, I noticed a kind of "old building" smell.) The day I visited it was quite crowded, with buses outside. The ham was good. The beef was overdone for my tastes. The vegetables were mushy... More
We drove 1 hour because my husband wanted their buffet. He was craving their Ham. The Ham is very good. But I don't feel the rest of the buffet is a good as it was at one time. We have been going here for years. He loves the place but I only go to make him happy.
If you keep in mind that this is a buffet, you will not be disappointed. While a lot of the fare is average, there are enough choices to find something that appeals. This is a good place to visit when you are in the area, have spent a long day and have people with various likes and dislikes. For as many times as we have... More
I have been eating here since the 1960's and it's still one of my favorite places to eat. Every year when we come home to visit, it's the number one place on my list of places i want to eat at. The food has always been fresh and hot, the staff has always been very professional and the dining area... More
Stopped there on a recent Tuesday afternoon. Most definitely not worth the reasonable price. The meats were dry, the vegetable mix was absolute mush, the desserts dry lacking flavor. The servers were hard to find and didn't seem to be helpful. The coffee was brewed to look like weak tea. When asked if we could have a fresh pot.............it was... More
Even though most arrive in groups this buffet-style restaurant welcomes those who wish to order from the menu. Suggest their chicken waffle with mashed potatoes, stuffing and gravy. Definitely large enough to split..for 6.95 you can't beat the deal. The buffet is extensive and with the large number of patrons, the food turns over quickly. There's a dessert and salad... More
Oakhurst was in business when i was a child 60 years ago and they are still in business. The food is just OK, though their chicken and waffles with mashed potatoes and gravy on top is just like it always was. Not to the taste of my fastidious, foodie husband, alas. But I thought their buffet was decent on my... More
A nice variety of foods... omelette station, waffles, pancakes, bacon, sausage and of course ICE CREAM! Opens at 11AM. Gets crowded!
