We just returned from Charleston and had the most wonderful meal at Mistrals'. Very casual atmosphere, friendly staff and excellent food. Have eaten here at least once with every trip to Charleston over the past ten years. Can't say enougfh good things about the restaurant. more

We walked past this restaurant & it seemed so calm & welcoming on the inside I couldn't resist it. My boyfriend was concerned that there weren't many people in the restaurant, but we were eating early & it was a Wed. nite. The atmosphere is typically french... warm, subdued colors and quiet. So look what you started, Mistral! I love your restaurant but now hubby wants me to make Coq au Vin at home! What next - I have to play 5 musical instruments simultaneously so I can make him feel like he's always dining at Mistral? Thanks a lot! But seriously, folks - this place is GREAT. LOL. The restaurant is located in a happening area and the atmosphere was great as restaurants go. Loved the jazz later that night {about 10 PM just as we were about to leave.} The only hesitations about the experience were the fact that the place lacked personal intimacy {no booths, etc}; half the time we almost had to look upon... more

A long time local husband and wife owned favorite with traditional French bistro food, huge wine list, and even larger portions. Be prepared to leave very full. The charcuterie and french onion soup are must haves. Bring your friends on Friday night for old school Dixieland jazz. The Sunday brunch is a great hangover remedy! more
