My family visited The Wreck for dinner. After "finally" finding the place we were pleasantly surprised with the food and service. We are always after "the hole in the wall" for food. Frommers "Hidden finds" is our favorite thing to seach out. Those seem to be the best kind of places. The Wreck is one of those places. We went... more

My girlfriend and parents visited the Wreck last Saturday evening. I have lived in Mt. Pleasant for one year and just heard about this place a couple of weeks ago. After an exhausting search we finally found the Wreck and walked around to the dock to put our name down for a table. The hostess was very friendly and offered... more

While on vacation, we were looking for a hole in the wall seafood place on the water. From what we read about the Wreck online it sounded like a perfect match. It matched the description, the staff was very friendly and service was prompt. Now for the not so great. While the food wasn't horrible, we felt it wasn't worth... more

We went to the Wreck on the advice of friends otherwise we would not have set foot in it. Perhaps we were there on an off day or the regular chef was not in. Certainly not a place I would recommend, let alone go again. You'll get better food (and more of it) for $20 per person at Red Lobster. more

The wreck's food was a wreck. It was overpriced for the portions you received. I was looking for some great seafood and this wasn't it. The portions were small and the rice crap they had was so sweet. They gave you a piece of fried grit cake the size of a large crouton, really stupid. The slaw was bland and... more

Okay, this is definitely a different kind of restaurant so don't go expecting anything fancy or formal. There is no sign and your not even sure you are in the right place until you are already through the door. It's like you are eating on the screened-in porch of a family cottage. Not too many of the chairs match, they... more

Looking for Lowcountry cuisine and local flair? Try the Wreck of the Richard and Charlene named after an old trawler destroyed during Hurricane Hugo. It's hidden away down by shrimp boat docks overlooking Shem Creek, so you may want to call first for directions or use GPS as we did as there's no sign. Also no reservations, no credit cards. Definitely... more

The Wreck used to be a great establishment ...7 years ago. It is interesting in that it is an out of sight type of place. They don't have any signage and it brings back feelings of Low Country simplicity. This is a CASH ONLY. Restaurant. You are served on Paper plates and bowls, when the beer, shrimp, or oysters run... more
