Great vinegar based bbq in a no-frill setting. more
I think very highly of Momma Brown's buffet style bbq restaurant. The bbq itself is pulled pork marinated in two styles: mustard and vinegar. Both are exceptional, but I would like to have tasted some smokiness. The fried catfish is incredible and very light and not greasy. I would say that its better than their bbq! I consider myself a lowcountry bbq afficianado or sorts. I have heard about this place, pretty much my whole life, since I grew up around here. I finally got to try it a couple of months ago. While it was good, I didn't think it was as good as everyone had told me. I guess I was expecting more. The... more
We eat here about once a mouth. It is a very casual spot serving good barbeque with traditional side dishes. My wife and I are both from Mt. Pleasant and it is what some restaurants were like in Mt. Very peppery bbq but great buffet more
We eat at Momma Brown's about twice a month. The hash is good. You get your choice of sauces for the meat. They often have smoked turkey available for those who don't like pork. The Banana pudding is often very good. A fine family value. Simple surroundings but always a rewarding visit. more
This place is all-you-can-eat, and every bite is delicious. I do not eat meat, but the mac and cheese, rutabagas, sweet potatoes, fried okra, hush puppies, bread pudding... are all the best I have ever tasted. The place is unassuming and tucked away, but it is worth a visit. I bring my family here when they visit from Penna for... more
Large Portioned plates or All-you-can-eat buffet Slightly spicy or spice it up yourself. I really like it, but maybe that's just b/c I'm a local. more
Let me preface this by saying that we are from Maryland, and just may not be accustomed to southern food, but we thought Momma Brown's was way tooooooo spicy. I took one bite and didn't eat any more. The boyfriend then ate his sandwich and the rest of mine, only to spend the next 2 days feeling really sick. I... more
