Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Aleays a reliable spot for a break when walking, the new young staff appear to have kept the place much as it was, albeit cleaned up and some of the old lictures we missed, but the cakes were as amazing as ever and the coffee...probably a lot better then at one time! Seemed as popular and as crowded, too but thats what you get at Ballintoy Harbour! It attracts the world but coped well.More

Out of this world! We had to pinch ourselves at how picturesque this place was. Incredible sweet treats and the girls serving us started to play the banjo and the Irish flute! It was incredible!

Excellent coffee and fabulous choice of good value really tasty cakes. The apple pie was one of the best we have tasted. Lovely situation by the harbour surrounded by stunning views. Were lucky to have some live traditional music too.

Friendly place with very good selection of cakes and treats including ice-cream. Location is very picturesque and was told that the location appears in Game of Thrones, but having not seen the series, I could not say otherwise. Cost 41 pounds for a family of...6 adults for drinks and a cake each, so just under 7pounds per person. Good place to hide from the rain.More

This is a wonderful coffee shop! We arrived at 6 o'clock for a quick pit stop and it was well worth it! We ordered hot chocolate, three berry scones and croissants. The scones were freshly prepared that morning by the manager and she was so...lovely and happily explained to me about allergens. Staff were all very friendly. Scones came with fresh cream and jam. One of the nicest scones I've had in ages - went back for a second one! Croissant was heated. We sat outside with a lovely view of the harbour. Couldn't recommend it enough! Note: cash only!More

We have loved going to this wee cafe for years, last couple of weeks we could not get in so busy.yesterday we managed what a disappointment blackforest cake now a wee teeny slice and served in a cardboard box along with a wooden spoon and a...takeaway coffee.gone are the days when you used to get real plates and cutlery also the cake selection is nowhere what it used to be.More

Just there for teas and cakes and on the whole very good. Summer fruit slice with ice cream was excellent and was in fact plenty for both of us. Teas were fine as well but 'stewed' a little as the service was very disorganised. Young...ladies serving however were very pleasant. Prices were pretty good as well.More

Ultra friendly and helpful. They were closed as I was visiting late, but they were prepping for the following day, and chatted and insisted I have a cup of tea and piece of cake, both of which were lovely and most welcome. If I make...it back to Ireland, I'll make it back to Roark's Kitchen.More

Went for a walk around the harbour and stopped for lunch in this little gem. We all had a huge portion of fabulous chowder. Couldn’t resist the selection of home made cakes so ordered a selection to take away with us. Lovely little cafe

What a beautiful location and delicious foods available. Especially all the sweet treats to have with coffee or tea. The staff were very welcoming and helpful. Nothing seemed to be any trouble for them. The only downside is the lack of internet connection/mobile signal which...means that can only accept cash payments. I was grateful that I had cash on hand. I've never been before but I can understand the high rating and I'm already looking forward to returning. I have a feeling Roark's will become a regular place for us to visit.More

I visited Rourke's Kitchen, as a mystery shopper, in April 2023. We had a delicious coffee and cream scone. The scenery is breathtaking and the atmosphere was fantastic with two of the waitresses playing the fiddle. The menu is first class: - a small menu...but everything baked to perfection. Please note, you must pay in cash and both sterling and Euros are accepted. The kitchen opens at 11am on a Saturday, although several customers I spoke with said times do change. There are seats and a fire inside and picnic tables outside with the most beautiful view of the harbour. A really special find which we will certainly visit again.More

Roarks kitchen is amazing! The cakes are absolutely delicious! The caramel crumble slice was a particular favourite and the chocolate honeycomb doughnut (so much more than just a doughnut!). The beaches in the area are some of the most beautiful I have ever been to...in the UK. Rock pools teeming with life and colour, blue sea and lovely sand, plus if you’re lucky a dolphin (or in our case a pod of about 20 just off the coast!). Well worth a visit!More

After a bad day the coffee (and location) was exactly what I needed to relax! Cakes all looked incredibly tempting too. Parking can get very busy though especially on a hot day! Lovely 'secret' beach too away from the crowds.

The food here is freshly made and very tasty. The staff are lovely and friendly. there is limited outdoor seating, however the turnover is quick so we got seats before our sandwiches were made. Just be aware the cafe is cash only, no cards
