We went to Arties restaurant in Fairfax, Va on June 12th with a party of 14 for lunch/high school graduation party. The service and food was outstanding. Artie's is owned by the same people that own Sweetwater Tavern and the food is good, but not very memorable. I do remember calling ahead for seating for four, but the staff ended up marking us down for only two. When we showed up for dinner the staff treated us like it was our fault that they made a mistake.... more

With all the publicity given the excess sodium we Americans consume, it's too bad a restaurant as good as Artie's has to keep loading their dishes with salt. Last night we had super-salty pecan crusted trout and a super-salty chicken dish; and a couple of weeks ago we had a super-salty salmon salad. We'll try Sweetwater next time, and if... more

We like Artie's and go every now and then for some good, solid American fare. As a previous reviewer mentioned, a bread basket is brought to the table that is different from the average restaurant's bread basket. At Artie's, it includes some cheese bread, raisin bread and two items that appear similar to beignets. It's all delicious--just don't overdo it... more
