My wife and I have been to Waves several times. The food is either awesome of not so great. The atmosphere is tolerable if the food is "on" that night but nothing special otherwise. It is a very small place, which can be fun. The service is marginal, sort of in line with the food.....changes like the weather. The last... more

I would never take the kids here, because of the smoke, but the burgers are great. I took my dad here, and being a senior citizen, he justifiably thought the price of a burger was "ludicrist". Anyway, It's better for taking a date than your parents. more

My girlfriend and I had been gradually making our way through the Racine restaurants since moving there over a year ago. We'd heard about Wave's, but somehow never made it there until this spring...why oh why had we waited. It quickly rose to the top of our list. Yes it's small, but maybe that's the charm of the place. The... more

I had a salad and a shrimp appetizer, my husband had a salad and a chorizo and shrimp entree. My shrimp was overcooked and rubbery. My husband's was great. They had some interesting salad dressings: cucumber & chive, flavored oil & vinegar. They have 3 different ages of Balvenie single malt scotch, plus a few other single malt choices. I... more

We have been apprehensive, with reason, about dining in Racine and usually bring our own cooler of groceries for the weekend. We finally stopped in at this tiny little place close to the harbor to pick up a menu. The friendly bartender was happy to accommodate and in response to our request for a table, pointed out the one that... more

We dined Sunday night at Waves, and were completely surprised with the selection and quality of the food here. The place looks like pizza and beer, maybe hot wings, but the food truly was impressive. The specials were completely unexpected, including several fresh seafood selections. The salads, appetizers, and entrée’s all greatly exceeded our expectations. Overlook the ambience, and enjoy... more

Having been told about Wave,s several years ago, began going there for lunch and dinner. The chef and one of the owners has had long experience in food service and in a small kitchen, turns out a wonderful product. Waves' meals are always good and often exceed all expectations. Service is also good with one waiter named Mike who is... more

I was in Racine for business meetings about a month ago. I met two other out of town collegues for dinner at Waves to celebrate my birthday. The experience was anything but pleasant. The food was decent and the service was good. Neither were the problem. The problem was with the atmosphere. I will explain. During our visit to the... more

Previously, my husband and I had only had the pleasure of eating brunch and enjoying after-theatre appetizers and cocktails at Waves, but were pleased to slip in for a late dinner last Friday night. In my opinion, dinner prices are just a few dollars higher than the ambiance and food quality merit. But Waves is a true Racine gem for... more

In the course of a very extended (read: involuntary) stay in Racine, I've had the pleasure of enjoying practically every cafe, restaurant, pizza parlor, and chain restaurant of note in the area. Not to denigrate other local establishments, many of which have their charms, I found myself getting desperate to go back to my home city of Chicago solely to... more
