During our recent trip to Hilo, we ate twice at Don's Grill. It seems to be a local place rather than a tourist place (it was a local that took us there). For around $10, at dinner you get sald or soup, roll, vegetable, entree, and a drink. Food was very good. more

I love this restaurant . . everyone is friendly, even when they're super slammed. They treat everyone well and with respect, right down to the children. Their goal is to make sure everyone is satisfied and they deliver. Personally, I love the BBQ ribs. My kids love eating their because the service is wonderful. more

Don's Grill is a little hard to find. It is near Big Island Candies. Doesn't look like much from outside but don't let that stop you. It does have a diner-type interior but good service and very good food at good prices. I tried their recommended Hamburger Steaks. My wife's and my hotel owner/manager told us that he felt Don's Grill was the best place to eat in Hilo.
