I thought the Manta Room was overpriced, but it is elegant, has outdoor seating with beautiful views and the great Hawaiin weather. You seem to get better service etc if you are a repeat customer and/or appear to have alot of money. Ok so like most things in Hawaii it is not cheap... but the food is good, the service is fine, the setting is BEAUTIFUL like few places are. Oddly while being open for breakfast and dinner it was NOT open for lunch... and the beachside restaurant at the hotel was underwhelming. more
We loved dinner at Manta (used to be called the Pavillion) at the Mauna Kea Beach Hotel. Much improved menu and service from visits before the renovation and the addition of a cool new wine dispensing machine makes for a relaxing start while you are waiting for your friends. Sunday Brunches have returned. My husband and were lucky we had two brunches here. Made the reservations from home. It's a good thing we did. The food was great. We had two dinners at the newly reopened Mauna Kea Beach Hotel’s Manta and Pavilion Wine Bar. The restaurant is located overlooking Manta Point and does turn the spotlights on to attract the manta rays. We saw a ray the second night, when the water was calm.
