This rustic place has an open fire place with a comfortable couch where one can read or leaf through folders with reproductions of local paintings. The restaurant tables line the walls and stained glass windows create a beautiful play of multicolored lights. The food and service are great. more

We hoped from our research that our meal at Kilauea Lodge might be the best of our trip to the Big Island. The fact that it is in the middle of nowhere added to our anticipation. We spent a wonderful time here while visiting the volcano -- the futon bed for our 10 year old was so comfortable as was our bed that for the first time in years we all slept in until 8:30 am. Food was great, location pretty and convenient. more
