Nice place, went last year for breakfast and really enjoyed the food and the "indoor, Outdoor" ambiance. Bar has Sushi and some great short ribs that just fall off the bone...Good Mai Tai for 4.00 and apps are half price at happy hour. Not your traditional fried food for happy hour which is much appreciated! more
I just came back from Maui. The Five Palms was very good. We had the prefix early bird meals and it was great. My son had the prime rib and I had the fish (and salad) for dinner with a lilikoi cheesecake dessert. It was great. Not to mention cheap on an overpriced Island. I'll go back again next time... more
The first time I ate there (10 years ago), it knocked my socks off. I've had dinner there several times since and have been very dissapointed. Reminds me of "food art". more
they're doing construction in the parking lot but the restaraunt and hotel are untouched. very nice beach out in front. open bar, love this place. more
My wife and I kept going back and forth about whether or not to try this place last month, but "Maui Revealed" raved about the view so we gave it a shot. Just to inform our guests of our current restroom status. Mana Kai Hotel has completed their restroom renovation which took a little more than two months to complete. We went here years ago and hated it - mediocre food, bad service, tired decor. We went back on 9-10-09 and it was fabulous. You enter through the hotel lobby which has been re-done with mid-century modern furniture and lights that seem to flow down the rock walls like lava. My husband and I ate there with our 18 month old daughter. Our server was great!! We ordered the island fish special with the macadamia (sp?) nuts. I about fell out of my chair.... this was the most spectacular peice of fish I have ever put in my mouth. We ordered the sushi as well. Again... it was absolutely amazing!!!... more
I stopped recommending Five Palms several years back (see review). However, I was told by a colleague that they had greatly improved, so I gave the restaurant another try. This was a great example of what to look out for in restaurants. Everything seemed well at first. The view was amazing and the architecture was decent. We follow not only Maui Health Code guidelines, but we also follow a stricter Standard for cleanliness which is the "Steritech" standards I learned at my many years with Four Seasons Resort Maui.
