Cream puffs to die for. Try the donuts on a stick.
If you're wandering town anyway, it's worth a stop here for sugar and coffee. It's a bit of a time machine of an old fashioned (50s) general store, so order from the case (we loved the stick donuts - a new item for us), grab a cup of very black coffee from the urn and wander around the aisles. Definitely... More
We stopped in here after seeing a constant stream of locals walk out with white bakery boxes. The smell alone was advertisement enough. We bought some cinnamon snails and doughnuts on sticks (great idea!). They were truly delicious. Be aware that this is not a place for avant garde pastries, but rather good, old-fashioned sticky bakery sweets. Delish! Ambiance is... More
The locals say that this has been a corner store and bakery for as long as they can remember. The building looks as though not much has changed in many years. The bakery definitely all adds to the overall charm of Makawao. The cream puffs are delicious. We also took a pie and sweet white rolls to eat later. Yummy!
I'd never had a coconut danish pastry before, so I have nothing to compare them with, but these were to die for! Doughnuts and cream puffs were good, but the coconut danish were the best. Not too sweet. With coffee on the lanai.
This bakery and store is a great stop either coming down or going up to Haleakala. They make some delicious stick donuts, long johns and malasadas. We did not try all the things they offered but all the things we did try were tasty. Do be aware that they are not open Sunday's and Wednesday's.

But we bought two each of three items and ate one each day for the next three days. The first one was absolutely delicious, and each succeeding one was even... More
I've been coming here for donuts for as long as I can remember. Get there in the morning for hot, fresh stick donuts or malasadas. They are always perfectly glazed, with just the right balance of sweetness and fluff. I always bring out-of-town visitors for a treat at Komoda's, and the verdict is always YUM! Skip Krispy Kreme, and head... More
We did Haleakala for sunrise, this was a perfect breakfast stop on the way down the mountain! Very nice staff at the counter.
