I've been going to Bar Harbor for years and make this a daily stop after hiking in Acadia all day. Just for a beer or something to eat to. They have a great beer selection, menu and the food is always great! The staff is friendly too! Stop by and give it a try. I can't wait to be back in... more

For a tavern, the food here is very good. We had the lobster roll and clam chowder with a couple of beers and it was a great lunch. Seemed like a lot of locals eat here, always a good sign! more

I have many memories in life and have traveled the world but my mind will always retreat to the great company held at The Thirsty Whale. more

Their lobster roll is fantastic and they are very generous with the liquor in their Long Island Iced Tea. The owner and waitress were very friendly and accomodating. Add that they are open year-round and we can't wait to go back. If you looking for foo-foo food and uptight atmosphere, go somewhere else. If you're looking for great food in... more

After 5 trips to the coast of Maine, I have found the best lobster rolls! The Thirsty Whale is a great restaurant with a friendly staff and delicious food! It is located on Cottage Street in Bar Harbor and is a favorite restaurant for the locals as well as visitors. more

We were staying in Bar Harbor for the Columbus Day weekend. Needless to say it was packed. And with most of the restaurants being seasonal, the good ones that are left open are even more packed than usual. One day, we were caught in between lunch and dinner times. So most of the places we go are closed preparing for... more

We ate here due to a recommendation from a local workman on the nearby docks. There are many TV's placed about to watch Saturday or Sunday afternoon football. The lobster roll was heaped with fresh, firm, large chunks of lobster. The clam chowder was good, although I've had thicker and richer chowder in many places, this was acceptable tasting and... more

My wife and myself ate here twice during our recent stay in Bar Harbor and have to say the service and quality of food was superb on both occasions. It may not suit some food gourmets as it is a tavern and serves pub food. The price of food and beer here is practically half what we paid in a couple of... more

We had heard from our nephew that this was the hangout of the locals and that the food was cheap and fabulous. It was ok. The atmosphere was pretty neat, but after having the clam chowder in Camden, it made the Thirsty Whale's seem very lacking. I would go there for a sandwich while shopping downtown, or a beer, but... more
