The country loaf at Tartine is the main draw for me, though the Morning Buns and Ham & Cheese Croissants are up there, too!
You need to get there before 11 if you want to try their double chocolate au pain...they only make so many and then they are sold out...the morning bun is delicious as well...we got the chocolate souffle cake and that was delicious if you like chocolate!
We went to Tartine bakery for the bread, but enjoyed the food and the company at the large communal table while we were there. The brioche bread pudding is not to be missed! We bought country and olive loaves -- yummy, crusty, sourdough.
Recommended by my daughter and also by the Concierge. We were warned there would be a queue/line (and noticed a similar one at an ice-cream place nearby) and found that quite comforting. Each time we travel to San Francisco we have to wait in line for the pastries at Tartine. This time we sampled the Coconut creme tart, morning bun, shortbread cookie and croissants and they were all wonderful. This place is a must stop for your breakfast enjoyment!
Tartine Bakery was awesome. Totally worth the 45 minute wait at 8:00 am to get a several breakfast pasteries for my boyfriend and I. Always come here for food when visiting SF. I love all the pastries they offer. Very good coffee. Unfortunately always busy but the line move fairly quick
Picked up some pastry for a dinner party. Just excellent, high quality, fresh shortbread. Worth the wait in line!
