We went here on the strong suggestion of a server at another restaurant. That's usually a great recommendation, and if we had been locals, we might've enjoyed it more. ... The line won't be as long as it looks, because it moves pretty quickly. ... The pastries were above average, but not mind-blowing. more

I went to Tartine's for breakfast on my daughter recommendation. She claimed Tartine had the beast pastry in town. To compare, I ordered only almond croissants with my coffee. Yes, the croissant was very good but had too much almond butter in it for my taste. I had a much better croissant at a bakery on Church Street and Market.... more

My nephew took me to Tartine, and his advice was excellent. The pastry was wonderful, the place cozy, although the temporary art on the walls a touch edgy. Nothing could take away from beautifully prepared flakey, wonderful baked goods. A must! more

Perhaps I need to go back and actually order something from the Bakery because the pastry's are all the rage. I went for lunch and ordered a prosciutto sandwhich, decent but I prefer cold prosciutto not warm. The mini spicy pickled carrots were a nice touch. Will return for some sweets next time :) more

Maybe we were there at a bad time, but this place had a line going out the door and an indifferent staff waiting to serve you once you got to the counter. Their wares were poorly lit and displayed, and once we tasted them, unremarkable. Take the trip the Citizen Cake instead. more

My husband and I try to make it here at least once a month to treat ourselves. There are so many delicious pastries and treats, I can't choose just one favorite. Go with whatever tickles your fancy, you seriously can't go wrong! Wonderful coffee, too! more

I'm not sure if I'm just spoilt by the cafes in Melbourne, Australia, but while I enjoyed going to Tartine (and have taken friends there several times), the experience was nothing that great for me. Specifically, the sweets were good, but not great, and the coffee was actually quite bland. I much prefer the Bouchon Bakery up in Yountville. I... more

We just got back from 4 days in Old San Fran.....while just about everywhere we ate was terriffic, this place was amazing. I can't even begin to describe the warm aromas that wrap themselves around you as soon as you cross the threshold. The breads were incredible, the cheeses we ate were at their freshest and I had, hands down,... more

We had dinner elsewhere, but we are glad we chose to save room for dessert at Tartine! We tried a little of several things. The Dark Chocolate Cookie was so good we got more to take with us; then we came back the next day for more to bring home. more
