The food was truly delicious, the service was excellent and the ambiance sublime. To me, a MUST dining experience in San Francisco !
AJWSF's review (December 5) was excellent in identifying those elements that need to be worked out. Although there was some overlapping in his service issues, we, too, felt that Mr. Danko needs to remind himself that maintaining status quo will not automatically revew his one Michelin star. And those rating the Zagat must either be tourists or guests of wealthy... More
GD is lauded by the Zagat survey as San Francisco's "favorite" restaurant...but the Michelin 1 star status is probably more accurate. From the outset, service is jerky and charmless. The reservation process is clunky and robotic, with confirmation numbers given like an airline reservation and insistent phone calls that one must reconfirm. After seating, the constant unnecessary intrusions by a... More
We dined here as it was for my partner's birthday celebration. I was really looking forward to the meal but it's unfortunately a huge let down... as it is always voted the best restaurant in SF. Don't get me wrong, services were great: they put us at the table in the house and I have nothing to complain about the... More
This was my fourth time at Gary Danko over the past few years. I visited this restaurant every time I'm in San Francisco. I loved the caviar and buckwheat blinis, definitely the best I've had anywhere. The veal sweetbreads was very memorable too. The service, attention to detail and professionalism was impeccable.
Very good food and exceptional service. Gary Danko is one of the most welcoming restaurants I have ever been to.
I was somewhat a little disappointed. The decor was not as breath taking as I imagined. The service was ok. Everything was good but not Ahhmazing as I hoped for and expected. It's worth a try if you're staying within walking distance.
How great it is to be treated with courtesy and respect! Dining in Gary Danko's is an amazing experience from once you enter the door, It's as if you were their most important customer...! Making you feel at ease comes effortlessly to the well-trained staff. The food is perfectly presented and delicious, such a pity to have to eat the... More
Yes, it is expensive, but the food and service (attentive but not pretentious) were exceptional! Very expensive wine list (and $45 corkage fee!). They paid very close attention to dietary restrictions...a real bonus!
We dined here November 5th , the food was awesome and beautifully presented. The staff were very helpful and were only too pleased to answer any questions about the menu . My only downside of the evening was. Maybe the staff were too eager to please! It seemed to be every few minutes we had a inch of water we... More
