Nothing fancy--just good Chinese food just off Columbus. The moo shu pork was very good. Prices are very reasonable. The place wasn't very busy around 5 pm on a Saturday. Service was good, but then why wouldn't it be with only a few customers? more

better food and service than House of Nanking more
Jia's is a great Chinatown restaurant (and some are decidedly NOT great) -- it's right next door to House of Nanking which has long lines and a devoted following but lots of people are a little on the fence about their food. -- Next door at Chef Jia's on the other hand, no such worry. - The food is EXCELLENT.... more
We travel to San Francisco several times a year and have visited Chef Jia's many times, four or five times in the last year alone. No more. The food is good, but we've grown weary of the atrociously rude service...tired of having to ask for a glass, a straw, silverware; tired of the inattentive service, and tired of just getting... more
We went to Chef Jia's for lunch last week because of its good reviews. We were disappointed with the quality of the food which seemed very ordinary, although we are not experts in Chinese cuisine. We left... more

Expect minimal customer service, sullen personalities with no pleasantries whatsoever..just good Chinese food, fresh and delicious but you must ask for a glass, silverware etc and be careful you aren't short changed when paying your bill. more
No Frills Restaurant, plain settings. Simple service. Hot and Sour Soup was different than most other places but very good. Our family of 4 had dinner for $26 total. Each entree cost $5.25 each which included the H&S Soup. Chef Jia's was the best bargin I found in the city. The food was freshly prepared and served hot. Definitely a... more
You'll probably see people waiting to get in the Nanking next door, and wonder why they don't go to Chef Jia's instead. I guess the reputation of Nanking draws people, but the food at Chef Jia's is excellent. The hot and sour soup is clearly home made, and doesn't have that jelly feel that some others have. It is quite... more
