The BBQ pork ribs are tender, flavorful and consistently delicious. They have just the right balance of tanginess and sweetness, which is not an easy thing to achieve. I just got back from Nashville and I had my share of BBQ so I didn't expect Phil's BBQ to be as good as they do it in the south, but I was wrong. It was awesome!! I loved the pulled pork sandwich. It's HUGE! The coleslaw on the sandwich is exactly how I like it! It's very reasonable priced... more

I'd rate this BBQ about a 7 out of 10 nation-wide. The onion rings are excellent, and the coleslaw is good. I cannot imagine waiting in that 100 person line for a table though. Take out was a breeze, and made the food taste a lot better. ;-) more

Wanted a good restaurant for BBQ and read about this place while looking for a hotel in San Diego. Enjoyed the ribs so much, we went back a second time the next night. The ribs fell of the bone and the sauce was fantastic. This was mostly self serve but the waiters still helped with whatever you needed. Very easy... more

We lived in San Diego for 9 years and Phil's was a regular favorite of mine. When my Marine husband returned from Iraq the first place he wanted to go was Phil's. Love everything, but especially the pulled pork sandwich with onion rings dipped in ranch dressing - yum! Memphis, TN has some great bar-b-q, but I still love Phil's.... more

Delicious BBQ, reasonable prices. I go for the baby back ribs and chickless and then add on a beef bone sampler... delish! more

Visited San Diego last weekend and had heard about this place....we did have to wait about 30 minutes to get in on the Sunday nite but it was well worth - the ribs were amazing...sauce excellent and the chicken very good as well. The staff was very pleasant. Definitely recommend this place and the prices were very reasonable IMHO> more

What a pleasant surprise! I expected good food based on the ratings here, but the large portions at moderate prices were a surprise, and the large and very clean facility was also unexpected. I'll return whenever I'm again in San Diego. more
