There are several upscale Indian restaurants on one block of East 58th Street. Dawat is one of the best. Very nice decor and extremely attentive service. The food is delicious with lots of novel combinations of flavors. Not at all your typical New York Indian restaurant. more

I had tried her cookbook recipes so when I heard about her restaurant while I was in NY I had to try it. The meal was excellent - my attempts at the cooking were pretty close.. and the staff professional, attentive and friendly. Great place to visit. more
