Chef Gaetano and his staff served us a delicious meal. I wrote it all down! We started with the appetizer deluxe, which included a stuffed portobello mushroom, a stuffed roasted red pepper and one of his tarte creations. What a wonderful way to sample a few different appetizers between two people. We then had his roasted garlic bisque, followed by... more

We had read all the glowing reviews and made reservations to celebrate my birthday. The location and building are charming in a quirky, urban, artsy sort of way. We were greeted by the serving staff and immediately seated. We had read about the patés and tortes and were looking forward to sampling them. The server recited the daily specials and... more

Went to a special event - Sicilian Tapas night. The food is spectacular. Taste and presentation are spot on. They had a superb opera singer the night we went, fantastic food, great conversations at the tables and between the tables. Felt like a family gathering, even though we didn't know each other. A great restaurant. more

Guy Gaetano has one of Manatee County's best kept secrets. Few locals know that one of the best restaurants is nestled inside of the unique Village of the Arts. Guy is a wonderful chef and host who serves some of the best Italian food in the Tampa Bay area. He's converted a small family home into a house of exceptional... more

It's a small clapborad house tucked on a residential street on the edge of the Village of the Arts community in Bradenton. Gaetano the owner/chef/jack of all trades is a gem. He makes homemade italian meals you'll never get at Carraba's or that other macaroni grill place. His specials are also to die for - appetizer: duo of pates- mushroom... more

On a recent vacation to Florida, my friends and I discovered Ortygia in Bradenton, and I have to say it was the best meal we had during our entire trip! Oh my gosh -- this is not your ordinary "Olive Garden" Italian. The food was absolutely delicious, from the appetizers, to the garlic soup, to the main chicken pasta dish.... more

While our party of 5 for dinner where generally pleased, this restaurant run in a small home had its shortcomings ... the room was uncomfortably warm and our waiter, the son of Chef Guy, needs much more training. Overall, dinner was a little pricy at $30 a head plus wine and tip. Would we try this restaurant again, YES, but... more

We came to Bradenton with our daughter who was attending a volleyball tournament three weeks ago and were back again with our son attending a football kicking camp. The first visit was by chance after reading about Ortygia on this website, the second visit was planned. We are from Naples, Florida, originally from Chicago. While some who have been to... more

I've been fortunate to be treated to home cooked feasts by this wonderful chef over the years. Guy's love of food and people is innate and expressed deliciously in the dishes he lovingly serves. I was so pleased when I finally got the opportunity to eat at his restaurant. He's brought his talents and passion, originally enjoyed by friends and... more

We were a party of eight, including two small children, and two pescatarians. Owner and server very accommodating (brought children their pasta with parm while we ate apps, very understanding of children's patience and hunger levels). Food exquisite. Authentic preparations, diverse flavors, quality ingredients, skilled preparation. Worth a couple hour drive. It is that good. Ortygia is a labor of... more
