We had heard from several people that this was a great restaurant, so we were excited to try it. I loved the atmosphere--it was different from what I expected, but interesting visually with that high peaked wooden ceiling. I was very disappointed with my dinner, though. The appetizer was pretty good; I ordered the hamachi. But my husband and I... more

Unless it's Monday or Tuesday (they're closed). Fine dining is a passion for me whether it's New York, L.A., or Paris, and Skadi's fits. Hands down best place in the Eastern Sierra. Best appetizers, best courses, and fabulous wine list. The chef has deep background in culinary schools and it shows (he's well regarded not just in Mammoth but out... more

First course a lovely zuchinni soup; divine pan roasted salmon with brown butter toasted pine nuts & fried capers served over savory butternut squash; which made a fabulous combination of seasoned flavors and exquisite cuisine. Light but more than fulfilling. The swordfish was prepared equally as well and satisfying. Dessert was caramelized Macadamia nut and vanilla bean parfait -- served... more

We were very disappointed in the food we ordered. The restaurant was empty so the service was adequate. We had champagne and wine (very nice). We ordered the soup of the day which was a mushroom soup (very bland, disappointing, didn't even finish. Needed SALT). Also had the ceasar salad which, again, needed salt. The lettuce was fresh, tho. Had... more

We discovered Skadi on our last visit, and we ate there three separate times, each meal was excellent. Fresh ingredients, clean innovative preparation, great service, excellent reasonably priced wine list. The meals are prepared by the chef/owner Ian, who is happy to share recipes and talk about his preparation. I give the nod to Skadi over Nevados as our favorite... more

I have been eating at Nevado's for a few years and it is excellent. but friends had been telling me about Skadi's for a few months and i finally tried it in search for something new and different. It was fantastic. At first i was disappointed with my appetizer; the mushroom crepe, but the New York steak with potatoes was... more

What was the kitchen even thinking?? Was the Chef or Owner in the house??? We'd eaten at Nevados a couple of nights before and another couple there said we might try it if we would be around for a couple of more days. The bar tender had grimaced and rolled their eye's at the suggestion. The restaurant was nice enough,... more

I have skied Mammoth off and on for many seasons, and my greatest two complaints is the absence of a central town and the lack of any good restaurants. Luckily the person whose condo I was staying at a couple of years ago told me about Skadi. I was alone for a couple of days, waiting for others to arrive... more
