Our wait was an hour in the hot July sun, but it was in the shade and the sit out a large jug of ice water. We sat with a fun group of people, 3 retired schools teachers\administrators from New Jersey, 2 precious newlyweds, new teachers from Kentucky, a couple of New Jersey transplants from Florida. If was great food,... more

My friend recommended it and my mother's coworker did as well. We waited a solid two hours in oppressive heat to get into this place - which I would definitely bill as the "experience" part of the meal. They did have ice water available in a cooler with disposable cups to help offset the heat and humidity of the mid-90's... more

Everyone loves to visit Paula Deen's when in Savannah but the food to visit Savannah for, is at a tiny boarding house called Mrs. Wilkes. Everyone gets to visit with all the charming Savannah locals and the tourists in a line that moves faser than expected. People are seated at tables of 10 for the best food of your life!... more

Do not leave the awesome city of Savannah without eating at Mrs. Wilkes Boarding House. The wait is worth it. 100% better than Paula Dean's. The food was rockin' and we got to sit at a table with a wonderful local family. Meeting them and sharing lunch was a highlight of our Savannah vacation. Make sure you are hungry. There... more

I had read online all the great reviews and decided while we were in Savannah we would try it out. Got in line Monday June 29th at 12:30 and we were seated at 1:05. It was really hot outside but the street is shaded with lots of trees and they had ice water outside if you wanted it. We sat... more

We certainly enjoyed our lunch at Mrs. Wilkes. We joined the line about 10:30 and were seated at 11:05. My husband and I were seated with a family from Nebraska and a lady from Texas. It is a great experience to dine with folks from different areas of the country. We wish this type restaurant were in Charlotte. I highly... more

Mrs. Wilkes' is in a beautiful neighborhood of Victorians. The neighborhood has a lot of charm - with lots of Victorian homes, and oak trees hanging with Spanish Moss. We got there at 10:15, and we were very early in the line. 10:30 is probably a good time to line up for the 1st seating. Everything I read in tripadvisor... more

food is good, very good. I don't mind sitting at the table with strangers. but only having 30 mins to eat, it's not worth it for the price you pay. by the time all the bowls of food are passed aound the table they start pushing you out the door. more

we recently visited Mrs. Wilkes' Boarding House on the recommendation of our tour guide in Savannah, and could not have been happier that we braved the wait! We waited for about 45 minutes on a Wednesday afternoon and the line moved fairly quickly. Tables seat 10 people per and all food is served family style. There were at least 15... more

The wait for a table was over an hour, but we had a great time visiting with our fellow in-liners. The family-style service offers you additional opportunities to visit with folks from around the country who have heard of the wonderful Mrs. Wilkes. After we left, our group decided to write down all the fabulous home-cooking treats we were offered,... more
