This place was great (minus the grouchy old man working the cash register). Weather was awful with I think kept the Friday crowd down, so we were seated within about 15 minutes of our arrival. The food was amazing. So many different sides and things to try and choose from...if you leave here hungry it's your own darn fault!! Service... more

I don't think I've ever uttered the phrase "This is the best....." more while enjoying a great lunch at Mrs. Wilkes. Luckily, with it being the off season, there wasn't much of a wait. We walked in as a table was being seated and there was a need for two more. We sat down with 8 strangers but by the... more

Worth the wait in line to get into this Southern food mecca. Food is served family style at tables for 8; fun to sit with folks from other parts of the country and identify the food for them (or learn that some things are called different names in other parts of the US). There must have been 20 dishes on... more

Greatest restaurant in Savannah! You're led to a table that seats maybe 15 people. Bowls and bowls of food are brought out. No need to make decisions about what to order. Just help yourself to some of everything. And everything is delicious. Okra and tomatoes, lima beans, candied yams, fried chicken, collard greens, mashed potatoes, black eyed peas, corn bread,... more

I wanted to try this place while I was in Savannah because it was #1 here on tripadvisor. The food was amazing. ...especially after I ate at Lady & Sons the night before. This place is so much better and did not disappoint. I had to double check my GPS to make sure this was a dining place and not... more

We didn't get to eat at this restaurant because of the time that it's open. I would like to advise intersted patrons that this restaurant is only open from 11 AM to 2 PM, monday through Friday, so plan accordingly. However, according to locals this restaurant should be on your to do list. more

Ate at Mrs. Wilkes on our last day in Savannah. Arrived at 10:50 am, seated at 11:45. They admitted 70 people at the first batch. My husband and I were the 71st and 72nd so the wait was a little long. If you could be among the first 70 people in the line before the restaurant opens, the wait would... more

Well all of the reviews are spot on. Best friend chicken ever!!! Even beats out my Aunt Annie Mae's. Everything that you read is correct. Lines can be long, but worth it. You get seated in groups of 8, once a table turns. Everything sits down at the same time to enjoy the differing foods, family style. Menu changes but... more

The line is worth the wait. You have the opportunity to meet new people while you wait. And you get to enjoy a meal with them. Food is on the table ready for you when they seat you. Best fried chicken in Savannah. Ah, the food. All of it good. The best place to visit. more

We ate here on a Monday afternoon after a walking tour of the city. We were worried we would have to wait forever in line, but in reality only waited 10-15 minutes. We got there at about 1 pm and we were seated and eating by 1:15. The food was very good, the portions gigantic. We sat at a table... more
