Had the buffet the morning we were leaving and it was great - a little pricey, but very good with nice, relaxing atmosphere and very friendly staff.
We ate breakfast four days and dinner twice at Criollo. This was mostly because we were guests at the Monteleone, but also because the place was worth return visits. The breakfast buffet is a new addition since our 2010 stay, and in New Orleans terms is a bargain: by the time you order a couple of items and coffee from... More
On our recent trip to New Orleans, the Mecca of great food, I had the misfortune of stopping for lunch at Criollo. I was pretty much ignored for a while (maybe they wanted to give me ample time to read the menu...) until I told someone I was in a hurry. I ordered the Criollo Club salad -big mistake! but... More
We had reservations for 7:45 PM and were quickly seated. Our waiter, Joseph and his assistant, David were right there. After cocktails we ordered our dinner and we have haven't had a meal like this in a very long time. Chef Diego was perfect tonight. I started with the Shrimp, Blue Crab and Avocado appetizer followed by the Creole Tomato... More
Great service, atmosphere, and food! Our waiter Joseph was very personable and helpful. He recommended a delicious appetizer and meal. The duck was cooked and seasoned to perfection. Also, the white chocolate bread pudding was the best. Also the best drinks we had the whole trip, and there were many.
This restaurant was worth the splurge! The seafood gumbo was excellent. With a little hot sauce added to it, I can say it was the best gumbo I have ever tasted. I also enjoyed the homemade lemonade and the variety of warm breads and seasoned butters that came with our meal. Don't miss it!
A small menu but extremely satisfying. We even made a special request and they were very accommodating. A must is the banana split dessert with homemade ice cream/gelato and praline brittle. It was out of this world. The service was top notch. Ask for James he was excellent!
The new decor is lovely. The food was delicious. Our waiter -Joe-provided professional service. The are many improvements in the restaurant since our last visit, and we enjoyed it very much.
It takes a lot for me to give an "Excellent" rating to a restaurant in New Orleans, since the bar is set so high there to begin with. I had a chance to try Criollo for the first time while I was in town for a conference, and was blown away. They had a special going (Restaurant Week?) and I... More
