We went to Commander's Palace for my 51st birthday dinner and it was perfect. Upon arrival, the doormen helped us from our cab, greeted us warmly and guided us inside. This is an outstanding restaurant: the evening setting is beautiful, the food is amazing, the drinks are amazing, and the service... well, it puts other places to shame in an extreme way! If you have the opportunity to go to only one restaurant while you are in NO, this is the one to go to! more

It has been been a long time -- since I visited the Dome Restaurant in El Paso, TX, actually, that I went to a restaurant who collects 4-5 waiters so that they can present the food to the table simultaneously. A New Orleans must! Located in the Garden District. It's pricey, but it's worth the royal treatment. The quail entree scared me at first but found it superb. The bread pudding with whiskey sauce is to die for. Make sure you request the main dining room otherwise you'll be seated in the gazebo. Not the same experience. Watch out for... more
