You can't go wrong at Acme Oyster House. There's a reason there is always a line. Hint: Go around 11:30am for lunch, and you don't have to wait! Top 3: Acme, Felix (across street), & Casemento's (long cab ride, and closed for 3 months in summer). more

we didn't order oyster at ACMe b/c of the rumor that people got sick eating raw oysters from LA. but i'm a big fan of cajun food so I ordered a NO medley, which has a combo of jambalaya, gumbo, and red bean rice. This is the best dish that would tell you how good (or bad) the chef is.... more

Busy weekend in NOLA and we waited both nights for almost an hour. Crowded overall and the service is excellent. Food is good, but I'm wondering if there is better. more

We ate at the bar - a dozen oysters on the half shell, fried shrimp and catfish, gumbo and jambalaya with andioulle sausage. Plus several Abita's. Good times, cool place, great food. You should go. It's not fancy so don't get all dressed up. more

When I was in New Orleans, I was intrigued with visiting this tourist hotspot after hearing about their chargrilled oysters. After getting their, we had to wait in line for probably 15 minutes (seems like this place always as a line, but seems to move relatively quickly). Most of the tables are family style, so don't be surprised if you... more

My husband and I waited on line for the Acme in a torrential downpour and were not the only ones! Even in the worst weather people are waiting to get in (of course that's the downside of going to such a popular restaurant). I had oysters on the half shell for an appetizer and was very happy- very fresh and... more

Acme Oyster used to be my favorite stop when in New Orleans to grab a dozen oysters. This trip, I realized this is just a place for tourists and is resting on past performances. Don't get me wrong; I love touristy things; I kissed the Blarney Stone! So yes, if you've never gone there, go once to enjoy the long... more

We (my boyfriend and I) were looking for something reasonable, authentic, and casual. We first came here the day of a big football game and the line was a mile long outside. We decided to come back the next night, Tuesday, and were seated immediately. Small and large tables meant that you can be seated at the same table as... more

My son and I went here to get Po Boys. We both got a shrimp Po Boy which was loaded with shrimp. The sandwiches were very good. We went back for dinner and sat at the bar in front of the oyster shuckers. We had raw and also tried the grilled oysters. The raw oysters were good but the grilled... more
