I have been going to Johnny's for years. They have every kind of poboy there is. They are always great. The dining room gets kind of crowded so I prefer to get mine to go and take it to a friend's courtyard to eat in peace. more

First things first. Bring cash. We stood in line and ordered before we realized that it was a cash only place and then had to go walking around for an ATM. Once that was accomplished we had to stand in line again and like some of the other reviews mentioned the line gets pretty long during lunch time. Luckily the... more

This fine hole-in-the-wall is our lunch place of choice in NO. Be forewarned, the po'boys are huge. Knowing this, we opted for a half sandwich and cup of gumbo special--big mistake! The gumbo is watery and thin on protein ingredients--we downed a spoonful each and ditched the rest. Despite that glitch, Johnny's delivers on the rest of its menu, and... more

It closes at 3pm, only takes cash and is about the size of a walk-in closet, but the line still snakes out the door. Had some seafood gumbo and a fantastic muffaletta. Salivated over the shrimp po-boys, which looked phenomenal. Caught up with one of the workers outside the shop and he gave us a clue as to what went... more

Half of the people preparing food wears gloves. One who wasn't wearing gloves wiped his nose and proceeded to touch food without washing out. As if that weren't bad enough, there was a RAT in the back room near the bathrooms where people eat! We told the manager and he casually said, "Thanks for letting me know." - as if... more

You can get a Po-boy at many restaurant in New Orleans but this place is cheap and gives you a HUGE sandwich. My mom and I both got sandwiches at $9 a peice and we easily could have split one. A half is the size of a a normal sandwich. It's just a sandwich with deep fried shrimp on it... more

As I was looking up this restaurant to write a review the words that kept coming to mind were "overhyped" and "tourist trap" so again - ditto on the last review. While they at least got our order right, it was the worst meal we had the entire week we were in Louisiana. The shrimp po-boy was subpar at best,... more
