Great Atmosphere, medium service. more

I was surprised to read the review from another visitor to Don Jose's, which rated it poorly. I really like Don Jose's. The food is delicious, the service very friendly (especially to families with young children), and the atmosphere cool. There are lots of good Mexican restaurants in Anchorage. Don Jose's is not one of them. The refried beans are tasteless and runny--as if from a pre-mix. I'm not sure where they get their chicken meat from, but it was rubbery and overcooked. You would also expect the chips to be good in a Mexican restaurant--think again! Also, the service... more
