Went here had lovely meal and drinks. The staff were lovely and very friendly. Good choice of meals with reasonable prices, well worth a visit.
On arrival we where made to feel welcome by the staff and after we had been shown to our table we where offered a complimentary drink, the menu was good and the food arrived promptly and served with a smile from the friendly waitresses,The food was of a high standard and reasonably priced. Alice May is a restaurant serving top notch cuisine that would not be out of place in a big city like Auckland or Wellington. To find it in a small town like Franz Josef Glacier was a pleasant surprise. Food is a gourmet mix of international (i.e. pasta, steak) and local/mountain (i.e. venison). food was so good we went back the next night for dinner. The meals were reasonably priced and the creation of the plate was different and exciting. I had the chicken on the first night and the fish on the second. The chicken had a yummy topping. On the second night I also had desert and the layout of the... More
Really delicious pub food. I had the Venison Burger which was put together beautifully, my partner had fish which he enjoyed. The building was very traditional, almost like an English pub and the service was good. I'd go back in a jiffy.

The staff were welcoming and trying hard to do everything possible to make us feel comfortable. Unfortunately though, for whatever reason, the day... More

The bad We had the selection of bread for starters and that was one of the very few things that was good about this place. I had Venison osso bucco and it was very dry and overcooked. My wife had Chickpea... More

We enjoyed our first experience so much we returned for another evening meal. The food and service were both very good. One of the reasons we went back also had to do with... More
