We came here on our first night in New Mexico, looking to sample some authentic New Mexican cuisine. Not only did our guide book recommend this place, so did one of the "locals" when I asked for recommendations. We were disappointed because of what we were looking for - really great, authentic New Mexican food - and got only an... more

I fell in love with Sadie's back in the 60's as a youngin. Remember the old flattop with "HAMBURGERS" splashed across the front. I've visited several times throughout the years and must say that the Stafford family has continued the legacy that Sadie Koury began many decades ago with an unparalled love of New Mexican cuisine. During my last visit... more

Contrary to popular belief, Sadie's did not begin in the bowling alley. Its first home was a small adobe house on 2nd street, and it couldn't have seated more than 20 people. When you entered the restaurant the famous flattop was right next to the always-long waiting line and you could see Sadie herself cooking. The food was so good... more

Sadie's serves average Mexican food . (Oh, excuse me, here it's called NEW Mexican). It used to be in a bowling alley, but it got so popular, they put it in it's own building. For a bowling alley, it was terrific. For a restarant, not so much. When it was in the bowling alley, there was one talented person doing... more

We made a huge mistake going to this restaurant. It is nothing more than a huge warehouse of a restaurant. The acoustics were terrible. The wait staff was okay, but that was all. The food was uninspired and boring. Suggestion: piling lettuce on top of something does not improve its taste. The salsa, which is supposedly something special, was processed... more

Doesn't matter what you order. Chili blasts over everything. Hidden under a pile of cheese. more

Last meal before we left New Mex. Busy on a Thursday night with 20 minute wait which was a good sign. More of a locals place than a tourist place. Setting seems to be some kind of converted store though I may be wrong. Salsa is quite hot. Wife got the "small" chicken nachos which would have counted as jumbo... more

I've always loved the restaurant since I was a little kid, and I have even craved they're real, and actually hot salsa. They don't make that stupid ketchup crap like they do here in Texas. Sadie's knows how to make salsa, and good mexican food. more

Sadies is one of the best New Mexican eateries in Albuquerque. I grew up in Albuquerque and went to Sadies at least once a month for the Papa Fritas con Frijoles with green chile. Their margharitas are the best in town, just be careful how many of them you drink because they are strong! I can recommend Sadies to any... more
