Started off with pate which I normally have to fight my son over- this one was awful and looked like hash! The smoked salmon was much better on toast points with horse radish and red onions. I had an exotic salad with one little tiny crouton spread with an even tinier piece of goat cheese. Not a lunch salad at... more

1. We were ignored by 3 people at the hostess booth. Only after soliciting a welcome, we were given a valley-girl style "OMG, you need to be at the bar unless you want waitress service." Since we wanted to sit down and have a drink, and have nothing against service, we proceeded to sit at an outdoor dinner table. 2.... more

we were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food, (nantucket bay scallops, cod w/ pepper jack cheese and fillet mignon with bernaise sauce). after reading some of the previous reviews. The service was excellent and the price was comparable to newport ri. We arrived 5:20 pm and were seated immediately. It is extremely crowded later on. No one rushes... more

We were in Newport for a wedding and made it a point to return to this restaurant. We had eaten here a year ago and wnated to get their flounder beurre blanc again. As usual we had to wait, and they almost gave aeay our table until we reminded the "snooty" hostess that we had checked in 10 minutes earlier... more

Don't let the name confuse you, this is not a restaurant that Johnny Depp and Pirates crew will show up to, BUT it's good food for your money. As our Tourist Center guide suggested, we tried the clam chowder and it was delicious. We decided to sit inside the restaurant as opposed to outside, since it was super crowded. Service... more

well, i'm glad it's just not me. i've had a thing against this restaurant for years as being one of the most unwelcoming. seeing so many negative statements about the attitude of the staff, well i had to chuckle to say the least. about 15 years ago, after returning from a trip to greece, i spent a few days on... more

We ate here twice whilst spending a few days in Newport passing through from Webster MA to New York. The first time was ok. I had a hamburger as did my travelling companion. The hamburger was ok and was served with the usual obligatory fries. Second day we went at lunctime. I had a ceasar salad with chicken. The chicken... more

We were early enough and seated on a timely fashion for a friday nite. Did not find anything overly enticing about this place. Could have eaten at any seafood house anywhere and gotten the same food probably at a much better price. Service was ok. They were within walking distance of our hotel was how we ended up there. Did... more

This is indeed a tourist trap --- in the summer extremely busy. The food is just ok but very pricey. However, the clam chowder is out of this world!!!! I would say just get a cup at the annex or you can buy some frozen chowder to bring home. It's not worth the long wait. The atmosphere though on the... more

We spent two evenings in Newport and had an absolutely amazing time at the Black Pearl. We were here in February and it was a weekday I'm pretty sure, as the rest of the town was pretty quiet. The Black Pearl was packed and it took us a bit of time to get a table, but not unreasonably long. As... more
