Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Absolutely love this cafe bistro! My husband Greg and I visited this morning( March 1st) and ordered two Croque Madam’s and a pot of English Breakfast tea The staff are so friendly and helpful and nothing is too much trouble I can honestly say that...the Croque Madam was one of the best I have ever eaten, and beautifully presented with a delicious dressed salad garnish On a previous visit we had scones and butter which were also amazing Well done Strand Cafe….. a lovely experience all roundMore

Lovely coffee but cake at £5.95 a slice is far far too expensive… that’s London prices in a small Devon village…

We have visited Shaldon several times this year and always stop off in this charming cafe. Polite, friendly staff and fresh flavoursome food. We shared the Chicken ‘Banh Mi’ which is a chicken baguette marinated with oriental spice rub, ginger, garlic peppers and kaffir lime...leaves. Tastes fresh and the oriental twist transforms a normal baguette into something different. We then shared a gluten free cream tea. I think this is the best gluten free scone I have eaten anywhere and as close to a standard wheat scone as I have found. Thoroughly enjoyed our visit and will always return whenever we find ourselves in or close to Shaldon.More

We’ve discovered this gem during our holiday to Devon and ended up going back everyday! Great food and drinks, with a lovely atmosphere. The English breakfast is very good and they have some dishes with a twist on the menu, which is a nice change!...The best matcha latte, chai latte and cherry pie tea infusion! Their playlist is good too! As are the cakes!! Highly recommend their signature pistachio and pear tart! The village is nice with lovely views as well- we will definitely go back!More

Enjoyed a lovely lunch at The Strand Cafe. The Asian fusion menu is a break from the norm. Hot smoked salmon salad was absolutely beautiful, an unusual blend of flavours but all worked perfectly together. Croc monsieur was fantastic as was the Devon Cheese Tea....Staff were friendly and attentive, facilities were clean and tidy. Only thing that I would feedback is it would be nice to add a couple of childrens options to the menu. My 3year old daughter had a cheese and ham croissant which was lovely but a sandwich option would be good and perhaps add Cucumber /carrot sticks instead of crisps on the side of child's option. Overall though a lovely and very memorable lunch, woukd definitely return.More

We visit this cafe a couple of times a year when in the area, sitting inside or out. This week we wanted the Mussels but not the garlic sauce. The Chef spoke to us and said he can make special sauce for us. Not only...were these the best mussels we have had but the sauce was terrific. Well done to the chef and all the staff for making us feel welcome and special. We have been back twice this week since.More

Very pleased to be offered a choice of tea to drink. I had Darjeeling with an Almond Croissant. Both were lovely (as were the drink and food of my companion). Highly recommended

The staff and here are extremely pleasant, helpful and charming. We ordered the scones and tea for two which was two beautiful pots of tea and two scones with enough jam and cream for both these. I think our home-made scones and we had a...variety of ones with sultanas and ones without the pot of tea does come as a variety we chose to have the English breakfast tea which consisted of 3 cups this quaint little Kath is situated on the main street as you come down in Sheldon near the ness pub. Just over the road you can also find the outdoor seating area which overlooks the sea.More

Excellent food and service!! Lovely place to have brekkie/brunch and even more. My wife and I had brunch here after a rather hilly run/walk around Shaldon. Food was great. Service was exceptional and it wasn’t too busy, but it was between Xmas and New Year,...so advise to book ahead if you are here during the busy times.More
