Had a lovely evening, the staff from start to finish were very welcoming and attentive. We were really looked after, we are looking forward to coming back!
Visited The Plough on Friday 9th with family for a pre-christmas festive menu get together. Could not fault the service, we were greeted warmly and made to feel extremely welcome. Food was spot on and we had a lovely evening. Will definately visit again. Big...thank you to Emma and her staff.More
Went to The Plough on Sunday 10th December 23 with family for lunch and was very disappointed in the service, the food and the general attitude of some of the staff. One of the food orders specifically asked for gravy not to be poured onto...the dinner. When the dinner arrived it had gravy all over. The dinner was returned and I saw the waitress and the lady behind the bar give each other a look (as though we were making a fuss over nothing). The dinner then arrived without one of the vegetables, but we left this. We then ordered pudding from the menu which specifically said Chocolate Brownie, Ice Cream, Chocolate Sauce and Squirty Cream. We ordered two of these and I asked for no Squirty cream. The brownie arrived with chocolate sauce and that's it !! When I asked about this the waitress apologised but I had to show her the menu. Surely your kitchen staff are familiar with the menu? She then went away and brought two scoops of ice cream in a bowl. The whole atmosphere in the pub was very uncomfortable and. what should have been a pleasant lunch, turned out to be quite unpleasant. Will definitely not be going there againMore
Booked a table back in January for us and 2 friends for dinner, even calling to confirm our reservation earlier in the day. The young lad behind the bar was very pleasant and professional. We ordered with him, again he was very knowledgeable about the menu,...asking if we had any dietary requirements/allergies etc. The starters were very slow to arrive, however before they did we had the above-mentioned rude manageress inform us that last orders would be at 8:15pm! On a Friday night... Between the starters and mains arriving the same misery greeted us by this time trying to clear clearly not finished drinks from the table and trying to close the curtains behind us. Clearly trying to make us feel uncomfortable as to usher us out of the door. The main courses took another age to arrive but my burger and chips, whilst basic, was actually pretty tasty. The mussels my partner and friend ordered however were vastly overcooked, to the point of them being rubbery, and the sides arrived quite a long time after the mains. The poor lad had obviously been sent home by this point as we were now left with the head of operation 'get off work early'... Needless to say, we weren't offered any dessert menus. Her plan to sack off serving patrons was however quashed with the arrival of a group of locals. Much to her annoyance we ordered another round of drinks before leaving! Won't be returning...More
I visited this quaint pub/restaurant for a meet up with friends for a catch up. As someone who has a number of uncommon food allergies, I struggle to eat out due to not feeling safe. I contacted the pub to ask if they have an...allergy menu, and was asked to let them know what I'm allergic to, and they would tell me what was suitable. On ordering my meal, I felt reassured that my allergies were taking into account as I saw my server adding it to to till ordering system. When my food arrived, I was very impressed and it was very tasty to. I can honestly say I will be returning for another visit soon.More
Really nice pub friendly staff, but really slow we had to wait 45 mins for the main and pretty nice food, not really sure on the food offering very basic
We arrived without a booking but they still managed to seat us- even though they were very busy! There was a choice of 4 roasts to choose from, I had the chicken, it was presented beautifully. It was absolutely delicious, everything was perfect. I am...not a lover of gravy but I’ve never tasted gravy so amazing, I finished everything- which I never do! The staff were very friendly and accommodating. The pub had an amazing atmosphere, warm and friendly- highly recommend but on a Sunday best to book! Will be back very soon.More
Although they were busy, staff at the plough found time and space for us to eat. The Sunday Roast was amazing. Staff were excellent and nothing was too much trouble. With a choice of 4 meats and a vegetarian option there was plenty to choose...from. The roast was great followed by homemade treacle sponge and custard and loads of custard. Great atmosphere and again great staff. Well doneMore
Really nice country pub, low beams, open fire, snug bar (with more restaurant tables at the back). Been few times, drinks, quiz, dinner, lunch. Always consistently good food. Menu and specials change regularly. Good service and food a really good standard. Would recommend. Look out...for special nights NYE, Valentines Day etcMore
Called in without a booking after dropping a family member off at Luton airport. Arrived at 5.30 p.m. and the pub was buzzing. Chap behind the bar found us a table and served our drinks (excellent ales on draught ). Varied and interesting menu that...should please most palettes. We chose 2 Plough burgers and one gammon steak ,all came with really tasty sides and eere delicious. Staff helpful and friendly. The pub had a block booking for about 30 in the rear dining room ,so we felt very fortunate to get a table .Chose this pub based on trip advisor reviews ,can now see why they are so good.More
A typical British pub serving food in a relatively remote spot in the countryside but well worth the trip. Making a family occasion special in the relaxed restaurant area while we all tasted different choices was satisfactory to all. The ladies serving were so pleasant...and welcoming too. If doing again we would probably have stayed in the bar area for a more warm atmosphere but that was our choice. We enjoyed thoroughly and when visiting again , will be back.More
Very welcoming staff, comfortable pub. Very basic children's menu,, same as so many pubs offer now, a bit of imagination would be nice. Food turned up reasonably quickly and was nice enough. But £4.70 for a pint of London Pride is a bit strong and...enough to stop me returning.More
We have been 3 times now (in one month) and each time has been very different. The first time we booked but on arrival there was some serious confusion amongst staff and no table available for us in the restaurant so we were asked to...sit in a pod outside. This wasn’t really what we had in mind so we left. We were offered an apology and discount for a future visit which we gladly accepted. 7 of us for Sunday lunch. Service was impeccable and the owner even made a point of coming over to apologise to us for our previous experience. Food was lovely and we thoroughly enjoyed everything. All staff had clearly been told about our previous bad experience as they mentioned it a few times. We decided to return again the following week and, well, a complete disaster again really. We were seated one hour and 15 before the first of us got our food (we had all ordered the exact same dinner, a roast). We were still waiting half an hour later for the rest of the meals. We ordered cauli cheese as a side which ended up being eaten almost as a starter as there was no meal to accompany it. The roast pork and cracking dinner had no crackling, and when asked, it was brought out stone cold. The food was good but not amazing like the week before. I had a chat with the manager and mentioned how disappointed we were, she said they had a new member of staff on which was the reason for the delay. I explained we had hoped for dessert but didn’t want to have to wait another 90mins to which she just smiled and said ‘yeah…. I’m sorry about that’ Family time for us is precious and being 7 of us is also not cheap… we want to know we can go somewhere and it be consistently good. This seems to be very hit and Miss and unfortunately means we won’t be returning. I am more than happy to leave good reviews when I feel somewhere warrants one, and did share this place online and recommended to friends after our second visit, but 1 good experience out of 3 in the same month isn’t great. A real shame :(More
Came here for the Mexican night.... Food was excellent (battered fish tacos were superb), service very good as well. Will be back soon (Sunday lunch menu looks very enticing!!)
