HI all. I am going to Paris for a month, leaving mid-Nov until mid-Dec. I'm checking out the airfares now and they are running about $1,200 from Orlando with a variety of routes and carriers: DL/AF via either ATL, IAD, JFK or MIA; AA via MIA; Aer Lingus via DUB; Lufthansa via FRA and even Icelandair via KEF. I'm flexible within a couple of days of the apartment contract on either end, and if connecting through Europe wouldn't mind a night or two stopover.
I know the in the past fares have dropped after the summer peak period but I'm not sure if I want to wait until Sept to book. So two questions:
When would those lower fall fares start being advertised/offered?
If I buy a ticket now for $1,200 and the fare goes down, what has been anyone's experience lately with getting a 'refund'. I know that Yapta does some monitoring of fares after purchase and years ago I did get a small refund after purchasing a ticket on Expedia. But I prefer this time to book via the airlines directly rather than a third party.
