The last couple of times we have flown to NZ,it has been in Business Premier on Air NZ.In spite of transitting LA we have had a great experience with this airline. We also acquired a heap of points on our BMI diamond club cards being in Star Alliance.
Our diamond club miles are now converted to BA Avios and we can no longer earn miles with Star Alliance unless we join a new scheme.
I am thinking that we should take BA code share flights---BA to Singapore, then Qantas to Sydney,Qantas to Christchurch. This way we will get Avios points and possibly the chance to use Avios to upgrade the BA section one way to First. One can but dream!Qantas also fly the A380 from Singapore which would be good to try.
However,as we have had two great Air NZ flights should we just stick with them via Hong Kong and forego the airmiles? It may come down to cost in the end if one airline is significantly cheaper than the other. Our dates won't be in the system until the end of the year so it is difficult to get an accurate pricing.I am just looking at options so I'll know what I want when the time comes.
I thought about joining Koru Club but it seems you have to pay to join and also have a monthly charge.Correct me if I am wrong here.
If we do go with AirNZ can anyone recommend a Star Alliance frequent flyer club which is free and easy to use for redemptions which would probably be mainly in Europe or possibly US?
